Misa Poisoned Passion collection

My absolute favorite Misa collection Ever

This may be in my top 3 collections of ALL TIME, which is why I'm swatching it so long after it was released.  Also because I don't care. It really needed some more swatchin' love people! So what if it was released in 2008?  This collection is nearly perfect.

The colors are spot ON, they apply very well, the names are awesome, AND they are ALL two coats and you're done. DONE.  I love these polishes so much I even re-swatched some of them just because they are so pretty.   Not to mention this collection holds two of my favorites.  My favorite dark blue shimmer EVER, and my favorite red jelly EVER.

Ahhhhhhh...that was nice.

New York Summer Pt 6

So far the formula on NYS polish has held about 95% consistent.  The jelly neons and cremes apply great with no drag. The shimmers and frosts are sheer and require 4+ coats. Mostly everything with "hot" in the name isn't a lie, and they dry in a reasonable amount of time. Sheer or not, these polishes can handle 6-7 coats without dragging at the cuticle or tip and that my friends is an insane feat to accomplish!  Not that anyone is going to sit and apply six coats to discover it, other than me of course. You're welcome.
Here is the first exception to the rule.  This being SIX coats is NOT HOT people. Not hot. And where is the turquoise and for that matter where the hell is the BLUE?  Six coats is hilarious to me.
I guess don't hate it. This was 3 coats. It's just kinda ok. Deffinately not hot. It applied great though. I'm lying, I totally HATE this.
This was my biggest disapointment out of the entire NYS collection.  Why?  This is NOT purple and certainly not a HOT purple.  This is a mauvey, ugly MAGENTA with some type of brownish undertone.  Totally not hot. This was 3 coats BTW.
Totally accurate name. I want to say this was 4-5 coats. LOL.
Highlighter yellow neon jelly. Wow! This is 3 thin coats and it dried FAST. Now this one is worth buying if you need a good neon yellow. No drag and good coverage! Bonus- no red fingers!

For more information on NYS polish check out parts 1-5.

New York Summer Pt 5

This was 3 coats, smooth application. No problems.
Also 3 coats. This is BLINDING.
This one is still sheer at 3 coats which is a shame because it is an awesome neon red.
This one was a goopy MESS! Omg it was a pain to apply. This was 4 coats.
Once again 3 coats. This one applied great despite the streaks and dried lightning fast.

As my mom would say, "Happy Jebuz iz a zombie day!"

I don't really celebrate holidays like Easter, so here is my gorgeous non jesus-zombie related NOTD:
This is 2 coats with Seche Vite. Perfect as always Rescue Beauty Lounge, perfect.

Really.

Very bright pink creme with purple undertones. This was 2 coats and like most Orly cremes it applied smooth as buttah.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!! I LOVE THIS!  I thought for sure I would hate it in the bottle, but I had only a few green Orlys so I got it anyway. It is so pretty and unique! Smooth, awesome application, 2 coats, radical color what more could I want?
What more could I want besides red dots in Nfu-oh 551 of course! DUH!
This is a jelly! YES! I had no idea until I applied it. I was a 3 coater with minimal cuticle drag and I really like the color.
Deep orange based red creme. This could pass for straight dark orange under some lighting. I don't love it, it's just ok for me. 2 coats.

New York Summer Pt 3

This set of NYS polish followed suit perfectly with all the others I have swatched.  No cuticle drag on the  neon jellies, smooth application overall and good drying time. So instead of regurgitating everything I've said in part one and two, let's get this polish parade on the road! Speaking of parades, why are they always so stupid anyway?  I always spend my time trying to mentally will the stilts dude to fall. I mostly do this to try to take my attention off how overly aggravated I am at whoever is forcing me to watch the parade, because there is no way I would be willingly watching a PARADE. But I'll just spoil the fun for you and take away all the suspense. The stilts dude doesn't fall. HE NEVER FALLS!
This polish is pretty but what a major disappointment! From the color dots it was represented as a teal/grayish blue jelly or cream.  A really AWESOME looking polish.  But oh well, it's just another stank ass light blue shimmer with green flash.  This was 3 coats.
Wowza.  This one is super pigmented. It could have been a one coat wonder which is the first time I have seen that from NYS, but I did 2 coats anyway.  This is really dupey to China Glaze Cowgirl Up.  It's a tad darker though with MUCH more gold flash.
OH! You startled me! I almost didn't SEE you there. This is a freakin NEON purple people. WOAH. It was way too bright to capture, but I did get a good representation of the color.  This was 2, flowing, non cuticle dragging, coats.
I would LOVE this if it were a tad less orange but it's still really cool.  A neon red jelly? Come on! This was a 3 coater with great application just like ALL the rest of the NYS polishes I have swatched so far. Awesome.

New York Summer Pt 1

New York Summer has a lot of freakin awesome polish.  Most of their jellies are actually neons, which dry matte, but a clear topcoat fixes that right up.  I haven't had problems with application or cuticle drag yet despite the fact that many of the jellies require 3 coats, sometimes more.  They dry as fast as any normal drug store brand but with the added benefits of having lots of great colors and being only $1.59 at Transdesign.com
This took 4 coats to be this opaque.  While it applied well, I see no purple and definitely no star.
Gorgeous Tiffany blue jelly.  This will dry matte as it's a "neon" unless you topcoat it.  It is a near dupe to China Glaze For Audrey except in jelly form.  This takes 2 thick coats, or 3 thin ones. I had no application issues whatsoever.
Here is a comparrison of it with China Glaze For Audrey on my ring finger.
This was 3 coats. No cuticle drag! This seems to be a great trend with these jelly neons!  Normally I have a horrible time with it on any jelly.
I tried my best to get an opaque swatch of this but it took something like 7-8 coats to get it this opaque!  I think it's safe to say based on the few I've swatched that the NYS glitters are meant to strictly be topcoats.  The upside is that the glitter was smooth and not very grainy at all once dry.

She's my Cherry Pie.

Just to let you all know I wholeheartedly and in all seriousness plan to walk down the Isle to Cherry Pie by Warrant.  I will be wearing cherry red 6" pumps,  a super tight, white, "wife beater" tank top and "to the cheek" cut off jean shorts.  Silver hoop earrings, long wild hair and a floor length already pulled back, white organza veil will nearly complete my look.  What will be on my tips you ask?
This will.  Every time I even think of this polish Cherry Pie pops into my head.  This is 3 coats.  It applies like buttah, dries fast to a glass like shine, and is the PERFECT polish to rock out with my bad self while walking down the isle surrounded by open mouthed faces filled with shock and anger.

Need a refresher of my wedding song?

The rest of my wedding will most likely remain "cookie cutter", I haven't given anything other than my outfit and hiring a cover 80's hair band much thought.  I don't really believe in marriage.

Lessons From the Looney Bin- Lesson Five.

Lesson five: Partner Polishes.

Flaky polishes are GORGEOUS and great for layering but they look totally different layered over another polish than they do in the bottle.  Mind you, they still look beautiful layered over other polishes whether they look different than the bottle color or not.

The problem for me is, I LOVE how they look in the bottle!  I buy it for how it looks in the bottle.  So I WANT it to LOOK like it looks in the BOTTLE!  They are just way too sheer to layer coat after coat and build them up to the bottle color, not to mention way too expensive to do 5-6 coats a mani, so that option is OUT.

My solution was to layer them over other jelly polishes that match the base color of the flaky as CLOSE as possible.  I used Nfu-oh flakies but any flaky will work.  My goal was to achieve the look of the Nfu-oh flakies actual bottle color by using other polishes as base coats.

I tried this out for Nfu-oh polish #50 for my first go round.  I think it turned out pretty well.
I started out with a nude base coat, then 2 coats of what I decided was nfu-oh 50's partner polish- Zoya Juicy.  This needed to be a TAD lighter but I think after layering it is PERFECT.

To find a partner polish, you want to thinly swatch your flaky on some white paper and look for the base color.  Or, you can hold up your flaky bottle to your stash and find a polish that matches the base color of the flaky.  Ignore the color of the flakes or glitter!  Keep in mind that 2 coats of the flaky will slightly lighten the partner polish.
Then I layered 2 coats of Nfu-oh 50 over Juicy.  This photo is outdoors in the shade.  I think it's pretty close to the bottle color don't you?
Closer.
Here it is outdoors in direct sunlight.  This is what I'm talkin 'bout!  I got this polish because I loved the POLISH, and now I can wear, THE POLISH! Score!

Here is the same method used on Nfu-oh #59.
I started with 2 coats of Orly Naughty. I thought this was the best partner polish for nfu-oh 59.
Then I added 2 coats of Nfu-oh #59.  Damn this is DEAD ON dudes. This is in direct sunlight.
Shade.
Indirect sunlight.

Obviously this trick is not just for Nfu-oh polishes. It can work for ANY polish that you love but simply can not build it up to the bottle color by layering.  Partner polishes save TIME and money by saving on coats of your precious flakies or glitters or whatever.  Of course it is also nice to layer these over everything under the sun and make your own looks, but being able to wear them exactly how they look in the bottle is a nice option to have.

Death to the fiance!

,Look, the last type of blogger I ever want to be perceived to be is some fliberty gibbit typing away at her laptop, eyes glazed over, looking off into space, and nothing but nonsense about her her fiance, her boyfriend, or her husband, ever shows up on the screen.  *YAWN*   "My fiance is so sweet, or I hate my fiance or, guess what I am taking all my ex husbands money", RETARDED.

Not that I sit around all day with my legs crossed, chin in palm, deeply thinking about what kind of freakin blogger I want to be, as if its some type of important thing to be thinking about at ALL.  I mean come ON.  It's just that I started typing this and I was like "OMG! I hope I am not THAT girl!  Must I clarify?  Yes, I must!"
holy mother of god.  2 coats.

So, back to death to the fiance thing.  MY fiance takes his showers first in the mornings, usually shortly after he lovingly makes the coffee.  He even makes me my very own glass of coffee and puts it in the freezer for me because he knows how I like it cold.  Awww.  But put that part OUT OF YOUR MIND because we are MAD at him, ok?  After his shower you want to know what he does?  Do ya?  HE TURNS THE HOT WATER HEATER OFF!

Now ladies this is going to sound strange but it took me about 3 weeks of dripping wet trips, sprinting naked to the breaker box, in the MIDDLE of a shower to figure out this freakin pattern.  Now that I have it figured out I STILL have to run to the breaker box naked, all crouched over using my hands as Eve's leaves would be used, in some sort of crab like, two legged race at the county fair, type of run.  Really, the ONLY part that is different is that only ONE LEG is soaking wet because I still get naked and halfway in the shower before I remember.
This is 3 thin coats.  Need I say more?  I think not.

Now why is it that I RUN to the breaker box covering my private parts?  It's because for some reason, every time, I am always totally POSITIVE someone has broken in and will be walking down the hall the precise second that I run by naked.  Now, logically if someone has broken in my home, which I am always certain they have,  the top thing on my list of worries probably should not be them seeing my boobies.  It should probably be something more along the lines of being murdered.  But still, the covering of the boobies and The Hunchback of Notre-Dame run are instincts I just cannot overcome while running naked through my house.
2 coats

It only took ONE dripping wet trip to the breaker box in the middle of a shower for my fiance to stop turning off the freakin hot water heater folks.  ONE.  After all the times I had scowled, and screamed and screeched, "STOP TURNING OFF THE HOT WATER HEATER" at him in the voice of a 70 year old woman that been smoking for 50 of them. It only took ONE time for HIM to experience it to make him stop. Not to mention he still thinks HE was the one that "accidentally" turned it off the night before his shower.

Say Whaaaaaat?

I got my first Illamasqua from a wonderful MUAer a few days ago.  It isn't just any Illamasqua.  It is THE Illamasqua, it is to me anyway.  I wanted this polish so badly I probably would have paid an E-bay scalper like $20 bucks for it.  Yeah. I know that's not a lot of money, because I'm BROKE fool.  Ok, not totally broke but I hate the idea of paying triple retail to some stooge on E-bay.
This is one of those rare as a hobbit, type polishes where I want it just as terribly for the name as I do for the color.  I felt so cool typing out the name while I was watermarking my photo. Propaganda...mmm I am a GANGSTA! Straight Up G from da hood yo.  Sippin' on Gin and Juice.
Here it is in different lighting.  This is 2 coats.  Ahhhhhh, delicious U.K. exclusive polish.  I am such a jerk.  I LOVE getting polishes from other countries that you have to take drastic measures to acquire in the U.S. because I can be all, "na na na na na na, ha ha ha ha ha ha".
Here it is with matte tips.  Straight up playa pimp.  This polish is awesome yeah, but It did have some streakyness to it.  Nfu-oh 557 or 119 would be good alternatives.

In other totally unrealted news, Konad can SUCK IT.  I have completely given up on it.  I simply cannot move at the speed of light.  Not to mention I am pretty good at freehand nail art and I feel so much more bad ass doing it free hand.  So I went out and bought a huge set of awesome art brushes, which I shall use to create glorious nail art and torment and torture Konad with it until it begs for death.  Plus it just sounds WAY better to say, "I would rather do it freehand, I'm awesome" than it does to say, "I'm a looser that is too retarded to use a freaking STAMP that kids use all the time".

Still even more unrelated news.  St. Patricks Day is coming up folks. This may not be a big deal to you, but MY man is full blooded Irish. And I just have to do the most over the top, AWESOME, KILLER, SUPER COOL mani EVER.  I just have to!!!
This is my first stab at it.  It's Nubar Forest with Zoya Envy tips and a white nail striper for the line.  I really like this but I can't use it for St. Patty's because I'm a dumb ass and I loved it so much I did a full mani of it and have been wearing it since yesterday.  Fail.
