First Posting!

Hi everyone. Finally i decided to create my own blog about nail polish. Im so glad as first time to posting here. I hope you enjoy reading my blog. I have become a nail polish addict since i stopped a bad habbit of biting my nails. Now i cant through any day without nailing. Its so much fun and really helps me to spend time real quick especially when you got nothing to do in a day!

Okay so this is first nail polish i ever bought since i fallen deeply in love with nail polish. The color is very soft from Sally Hansen : Tough Buff. I applied like 3-4 coats. It took me 15 mins for the 2nd coat to let them dry then i wait for 20 mins at 3rd coat and wait 30 mins at least for the last coat to let them dry.

The light wasnt so perfect, i need real camera digital soon!

Thanks for the free swatches Sally.

GAH!

Why can't I learn my lesson about Sally Hansen?  I saw the new HD polishes at CVS last night for the first time and about DIED over Laser. I mean it's about the most beautiful thing ever in the bottle under the florescents at CVS.  Then the advertisement photo really did me in.  I stood there with Laser in my hand looking at the picture above the display, marveling at the blue and purple rainbow effect, literally WHINING. I was whining like a 6 year old in the candy isle, for REAL. I ended up leaving without it, then begging my fiance in the safety of the car to buy it for me.  I then took his $6.50 and went BACK in CVS to buy it.

Laser will officially be the first nail polish I TAKE BACK.  WTF Sally? Why did I have to actually loose count of the amount of coats this polish took to even get CLOSE to bottle color? Was it 4 coats? Was it 5?  I DON'T EVEN KNOW.  Not to mention WHERE IS THE PURPLE???? Seriously, the purple that shows up in the display picture and even in the bottle is NOWHERE to be seen on the nail. NOWHERE!

I NEVER spend more than $2 on drug store polish as a rule.  And now I have learned my lesson for breaking that rule. I mean COME ON. $5.99 for this sheer, false advertising, waste of time? That is enough for 2 China Glazes or 3 sinful colors people.  That is half the cost of an Nfu-oh for god sakes!

Observe:
Here it is in the shade. Don't be fooled dudes. It only SEEMS opaque in the shade. I kinda see the purple in the bottle...but none on the nail. OK lets try some sunshine.
Okay now I really see the purple in the sides of the bottle...and guess what else I really see? I really see RIGHT THROUGH THE POLISH.
Lets try some flash action...  Still no purple.
How about some REALLY bright sunlight. Nope. No purple. See how SHEER this stupid thing is? This is 4-5 coats! The only reason you can't see through the polish on all my nails is because the bottle is behind them.

I am seriously going to drive the 20 mins back to CVS and return this ONE polish, but thanks for the free swatches Sally!

Love, MM

Review: Sally Hansen Color Quick Pens

*sigh*

I normally wouldn't even try a polish pen like this. Mostly because they are all expensive, with FAIL damn near written on the box. But yesterday, I spotted one lone Sally Hansen brand color pen at my neighborhood Dollar Tree so I HAD to give it a try.
I got the blue one, number 07.  It had a pretty cobalt blue box and a picture of a perfect nail with COBALT blue polish being applied to it so I was pretty excited.  You guys know how I obsess over dark blues...
This is what it looks like when you open it up.  Pretty funky huh.  When I saw and felt the brush I literally said out loud,  "OMG FAIL".  Surprisingly it doesn't suck quite as bad as it looks like it would.  Anyway I am showing this picture because I always wondered what they looked like opened up.
Here it is at 3 coats. Its SUPER sheer dude. Don't you love how this is a Caribbean island blue green shimmer polish?  Check out how FAR off it is from the swatch on the pen itself...Ok maybe it's not THAT far but it is NOT the same color and it is NOT the cobalt blue I ordered!
Here it is next to the box...(sorry about the flash) Seriously could they not just put the correct polish color in the pen? How hard must that be? PRETTY FREAKIN HARD APPARENTLY.

As far as application goes it wasn't a total nightmare like I had anticipated.  Granted, it was pretty difficult to get the hang of it and of course I didn't read the directions and clicked the pen about 15 times trying to get the polish to come out and ended up with it all over myself and my desk.

The box says "Manicure in minutes! Just click to dispense color, brush on and go!"  For the most part this is true. Once you have painted your nails with it and removed it several times like I did, you really get the hang of it!  I can see how these pens could come in handy as long as you don't care what color you are actually buying. The dry time was really fast so that's a plus and the whole idea is pretty cool, so by no means is this a down right negative review.  Basically for a regular girl that isn't a freaky polish obsessed person, blue is blue and this pen works just fine.

Love, MM

Old School.

Well I couldn't stop feeling guilty/retarded about my long winded groundhog rant. It's just that I have problems ignoring things that are stupid.  I also have problems controlling myself when it comes to my take on things.  I tend to go a little overboard.  So I decided to try to redeem myself with some old school Sally Hansen swatches.

So, I'm sorry about the whole groundhog thing. I hope we can still be friends.
Very feminine light mauve shimmer. This is 4 coats!
Peachy pink with gold shimmer. This was 3 coats.
Really weird green to purpley brown duochrome. This looks like a light blue transparent jelly on the first coat. So odd. This was like 5 coats or something insane like that.
2 coats.
This was 4 coats! I like this though.
Gorgeous purple with gold shimmer. 2 coats.
Medium blue-grey creme. Love it. This was also like 5 freakin coats!
Very light grey, almost off white creme with subtle gold shimmer. Only 2 coats but geez this was streaky!
Once again my camera has screwed up the blue in this photo. The color is right it's just about 3 shades darker than this. 2 coats. Awesome!
Another super weird one. This is a brown frost with red and green shimmer. At 4 coats it still looked nothing like the bottle color.

Mostly Meh, Sometimes Marvelous.

I am so addicted to shopping drug stores and department stores for polish sales.  I almost always order my polish online, so I'm used to waiting for things in the mail.  This was the only way I ever used to acquire polish.  So, shopping in person for polish and actually getting my hands on it right then became an instant addiction.  I usually regret it right away because sales always outweigh whether or not I actually want something.  Not to mention the "deals" always add up to an amount of money that could have purchased the polishes I REALLY wanted online.  Keep in mind this obsession only started about 2 months ago when Walgreens ran it's first BOGO on Sinful Colors.  Before that I had never purchased nail polish in person EVER.  Not once.

To top it off there are always rushes on certain drugstore brands of polish once online swatches start to circulate.  When I see one of these "desirable" polishes I ALWAYS buy it.  Whether I personally like it is not even a factor.  A prime example is Sally Hansen Opulent Cloud.  I finally spotted it and bought it without thinking.  I never even opened it because I knew I would end up swapping it since I don't even like the stupid polish in the first place.  Alas, I broke down and swatched it anyway today just to see what all the fuss is about.  My original opinion still stands on this one, "meh".
This was 2 coats.

Then there are stores like Ross.  At this store you will find packs of several polishes for the price that just one bottle in the pack would sell for at a drug store.  I CANNOT resist them.  10 mixed Sally Hansens for $4.99?  A pack of 5 old school Rimmels for 2.99?  Give me a break!   I am helpless against the powers of low prices.  So, I end up with piles of pinks and sheers I wont ever wear.  At least they were dirt cheap right?  These next two are a crazy amount of coats, like 5?   I'll try to keep the suck to a minimum.
I actually don't hate this one.  It's ok.  2 coats.

Then there are the "sleepers". The polishes I grab because they are on sale that I end up LOVING. They really make all the duds and mindless spending worth it to me.
Rimmel Camoflauge. Gorgeous green shimmer. 2 coats $1.09 at Walgreens!
Deliciously Dark. Super dark purple creme. Awesome! Also, $1.09 at Walgreens.
This is one of the only darker nude shades I like. I love it actually. It flows on smooth like a 20 dollar polish, is opaque in one coat, dries fast and here's the freakin KICKER folks- this polish came in a 2 pack for ONE dollar at a Family Dollar.
Here is the other half of the dollar pack duo.  This also flows like buttah, and dries fast.  It's in my top 3 reds. Yep, 50 cent playa!
My new favorite dark blue shimmer.  It's a rich midnight blue with lots of shimmer that shines TEAL! This is 2 thin coats.  Surprise! This is 99 cents a bottle!

Drugstore Deals.

I normally like to stick to brands I get online like Misa, China Glaze, Orly etc. But I just cannot pass up cheap polish. An added bonus to my obsessive polish hoarding problem is that I find a lot of really awesome polishes I wouldn't have ever tried had they not been on sale. This being a prime example.

I only got this because it was marked down to $1.39 at my walgreens and I LOVE to have lots of matching bottles from the same brand. I am low on rimmels so I grabbed it in spite of the color. I tried it and fell in love. I freakin adore this! BUT, I came to find out that they were only discounted because rimmel is changing thier bottle design. How nice.

I love the square Sally Hansen Salon bottles. But as with all good things from Sally Hansen they are discontinued and are being replaced with something fugly. So, a lot of stores are discounting the square style bottles. I picked these up at Walgreens for a little over a dollar each on sale. So if you love these like I do start stalking the walgreens in your area STAT!

Sinful colors polishes can be purchased at walgreens. They have been running BOGO sales for them a lot lately so they end up being only $1 each. Normally $1.99 a bottle. This is 2 coats

This beauty was part of the CVS 75% off sale going on this month. A lot of thier store brand items are also BOGO50% off.

I found these old Maybellines at the Dollar Tree. The express  finish normally come in 2 packs for $1. The others are sold individually.

I got this one from Ross in a sort of grab bag package. It had 10 old Sally Hansens. There were extremes, Salons, Glossies, Opals, 10 days wears and Hard as nails all in the same package for only 4.99! Of course I bought both packs.
