Orly Plastix Collection

I am so super majorly pissed off at Orly after the crap they pulled with the Cosmic FX collection that it is hard for me to ignore my grudge and honestly post about their polishes. This is the main reason I waited so long to post the Sweet collection and now the Plastix collection. I'll get into all that when I review the Cosmic FX collection though, I'm just waiting for a sunny day to photograph them.

As for the Plastix collection, it's a group of 4 polishes that are designed to dry to a "plastic finish". Honestly they are just mattes that don't dry as matte as normal mattes. The colors are just ok. Orly launched this collection with a LOT of hype with not much follow through. Two of the colors are ok but adding a layer of glossy topcoat reveals they are both dupable with other easy to find polishes. The other 2 colors in the collection are just down right ugly, and yes, they are easily dupable as well.

The point of this collection totally escapes me. With all the matte top coats readily available these days, making a collection of matte cremes in basic colors makes no sense to me.  There is nothing unique about the colors in the plastix collection whatsoever. A couple seconds with a few common cremes and a matte topcoat can recreate these colors with equal if not better results.

This is 3 coats. For a similar look try one coat of China Glaze Grape Pop plus a matte top coat.
Here it is with a glossy topcoat.
This one didn't dry very matte at all. Also a 3 coater. (these are ALL 3 coaters) This color is just awful, I really cant see it looking flattering on anyone.
Here it is glossy.
This polish was the worst of the bunch. It has a horrible orange cast in person that gives your hands a very grimy dirty look.
As you can see this polish isn't red at all. Any dark pink polish plus a matte topcoat will be a good dupe for this polish.
American Apparel Peacock plus a matte topcoat is a great alternative to this one.
And now for a photo of it with a glossy topcoat.

These polishes were really hard to work with.  They were thick and very streaky but still had a really bad tendency to drip all over the place during application. They all needed 3 coats either to get full coverage or to smooth out the streakiness.

Orly sweet

Way behind posting these. I only got three of the 6 because I had dupes for 2 and the other just didn't appeal to me. I'm going to make this short and sweet since I'm still recovering from this weekend.
 Three coats.
2 Coats
2 coats.

These are a little thick but not too hard to apply. Overall they were pretty good.

NOTD

I have this new obssesion with wearing polish only on the tips of my nails ever since I FINALLY got my stains out.  I have been wearing nothing but naked nails and colored tips for like a week and a half now.  I absolutely love how it looks for some reason.  I also love applying seche vite over my bare nails. For some odd reason it makes me feel cool.

Today I decided to wear a glitter over my naked nails before painting the tips and I think it looks pretty neat.
This is my beloved Orly Royal Navy and a base coat of China Glaze fairy dust. Before Royal navy came out there was only ONE blue that could come this close to my heart and that was Nfu-oh 557, Royal navy and 557 have the same exact base color except the nfu-oh is a jelly and lacks the AWESOME turquoise shimmer. The Nfu-oh is still my favorite polish of all time though.  Please excuse my STAINED ring finger. If you would like to know it was China Glaze paper chasing that stained my nail like that.  I had it on for about an hour while I was comparing greens... Oh yeah, that is my seche vite in that extreme wear bottle. I always keep it in that type of bottle because I love the brush, you should try it.

It feels so odd to have any part of my nail exposed because I'm so used to hiding my stains. Wearing them naked is so addicting!   I can't get myself to paint my whole nail anymore now that I have gone naked and felt the breeze on mah fingas! FYI My favorite so far has been black tips.  If you are wondering how I got my stains out I tried everything man! Finally the solution was 10 denture whitening tablets in about 1/2 cup of warm water and soaking my nails in it for over an hour.

Friday night EOTD/NOTD

I recently got a bunch of cheap eyeliners from Wal-mart just to try them out. I mean doesn't everyone just assume the "love my eyes" liners that are in that big plastic bin on the make-up isle are total crap?  Well, I decided not to assume and holy moly was I wrong... Ok, I DID assume they sucked but I was still wrong.  Don't get ME wrong the NYC liners in the bin NEXT to the "love my eyes" liners ARE total crap. You might as well try to line your eye with a crayola colored pencil, so be careful which ones you are grabbing..
Shown here is "love my eyes" liner in "blue" which looks royal purple on my skin. This one dollar gem (YES love my eyes brand is ONE DOLLAR per pencil) glided on smooth and covered in a solid one coat. The pencil did not crumble or give me problems of any kind.  I got 6 colors and all 6 were equally effortless to apply. Freaking amazing.
Now let's not get crazy here but...  BAM, here is my other eye...
How you doooin'?

For this look I used the blue LME pencil on top and bottom and a bright yellow shimmer shadow on my lids, above that a blueish emerald followed by a rose shadow on my brow bone. All shadows are from my Giovi palatte.  I finished this with maybelline great lash mascara, my favorite mascara that have used since my momma got me my first tube at 15.
And here is my NOTD which was meant to match my blue eyeliner but that didn't work out so well.  However, this polish is one of the most gorgeous polishes I have ever laid eyes on.  It's a solid 2 coat, medium to dark, straight up BLUE with tiny particles of turquise shimmer... LOVE THIS POLISH.  This polish reminds me of how much I love Orly, they really do make some good nail paint people!

While my matching EOTD/NOTD was a fail I am still rocking it out this friday evening, I might be a little over dressed for food shopping at wal-mart later this evening though...since that is the only plan I actually have, lol.

Outta Gas

I better head on over to the Chevron Station.  I think they have spam and I'm gonna get me some while I'm in there.  I wonder if Octaveous is working today.

Octaveous is a really, REALLY, large black man that worked at Chevron when my BFF and I were in high school.  Say it with me guys, Oct-a-v-ous.  Anyway, one time sitting in the car in the Chevron parking lot my BFF called him Oct-a-v-i and I was like, "Dude, his name is Octaveous." And she was like, "No it's not, it's Oct-a-v-i because he's so fat, he's plural."  She busted out this little gem BEFORE we went inside to buy things.  Of course he was working that day and I have never had to try so hard not to laugh in my entire life.

They DO have spam? Awesome.

Undercover bling

These are two more of my favorite Orlys. Goth and Glam. Both seemingly run of the mill shades from a distance, but they are mixed with different sized glitter.  Glam actually has different colors of glitter as well.

They are both 2 coaters and apply great, as most Orlys do.  These are like ninjas, looking all innocent and normal until you get up close and get round house kicked in the face by the undercover awesome. BAM! GLITTER!  Plus these are two of my absolute MOST loved nail polish names.
Don't be fooled my this pitiful swatch! Glam really needs a top coat to show its full glorious, micro glass flecky, redish marooney, glittery, bad ass-ness. I must have either been in "MOAR COFFEE" or "don't care, were is the remote"  mode while swatching this because I did not use a top coat.
If you like fast cars or have dated a dude that does, you will understand what I mean when I say this polish is a "sleeper".  It just looks like your basic black from about 2 feet away then you pull up right next to it and it blows your mind. Nothin but break lights baby.

Matte te tat tat

I absolutely love the Orly matte polishes! Matte vinyl is my favorite, but the two polishes below are no exception to my lurve.

The formula on these is great. They aren't runny or gloppy unless you take too long to apply them because they dry FAST.   If you twiddle your thumbs while playing tic tac toe as you paint, thus taking forever to apply them, then YEAH they will get all streaky and gross. They are otherwise perfection. These swatches are both 2 coats which is typical for them to even out.

Really.

Very bright pink creme with purple undertones. This was 2 coats and like most Orly cremes it applied smooth as buttah.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!! I LOVE THIS!  I thought for sure I would hate it in the bottle, but I had only a few green Orlys so I got it anyway. It is so pretty and unique! Smooth, awesome application, 2 coats, radical color what more could I want?
What more could I want besides red dots in Nfu-oh 551 of course! DUH!
This is a jelly! YES! I had no idea until I applied it. I was a 3 coater with minimal cuticle drag and I really like the color.
Deep orange based red creme. This could pass for straight dark orange under some lighting. I don't love it, it's just ok for me. 2 coats.

All that glitters...

What the crap is wrong with me lately?  I keep purposefully applying gold to my nails.  I cannot stand gold, gold jewelry, gold hardware, gold nail polish caps, gold ANYTHING!  I really hate gold.  Yet things like this continue to happen.

This is 2 coats of Ghetto Fabulous with one coat of China Glaze Midnight ride.  Can I just say how much I love the name of this Misa?  It's the only reason I bought the polish, I find it hilarious and awesome.  This is called a ruffian manicure.  I learned that the other day and wanted to share.  Both of these polishes applied flawlessly and DARE I say this is gorgeous?  I freakin love it.

And again here we have the GOLD manicure I wore out fishing last night.  It's 2 coats of Solid Gold by Orly and special stamp polish in black using a fauxnad plate. Then a coat of Seche Vite.  I must be disgustingly ill.  Like somehow on the verge of a grotesque and shocking death type of ill, because I really, really loved this one.

Oooops

I forgot one.
This is one coat.

Out of all the ChG Krome collection colors I have, millenium, 2030, robotika, and metallic muse, they are all one coaters, dry super fast and the application streaks mostly disappear as they dry. I LOVE them.
I keep seeing this style of mani circulating so I tried it out. I have no clue what it's called but I think it looks awesome!  I need to find my long lost french guides so I can try this again with a perfect line. I used metallic muse, and Orly purple velvet for this.

The pee is free.

When I was a kid I would get dropped off at my grandmother's house for the weekends.  Most of my childhood friends I remember are from playing down by the creek behind her house.  There were these incredibly pretty dragonflies we would all try to catch that hovered over the creek landing every so often.  Every single weekend we would all try to get one of these violet and blue winged beauties but we never succeed.  Mostly because one of the fat little friends I had wasn't very "sharp" and was always talking way to loud and falling all over the place scaring them away.
 2 coats.

One of these particular weekends when I was around 6 stands out in my memory a little more predominately than the others.  It's because I peed in my grandma's bed.

My grandparents had a spare room and all, but my grandfather had recently been kicked out of the house because he failed to "quit smoking" for the millionth time, so I would lay in my grandma's bed with her and watch golden girls and usually fall asleep there.  I mean what kind of stupid ass lie is it to tell people you are getting a divorce because you're husband won't quit smoking when everyone on god's green earth knows it's because he is an alcoholic and you hate his guts. Is it REALLY that much of a stretch to just say alcoholic instead of smoker?  So freakin stupid.
 1 coat.

So on one special evening I awoke to a warm sensation and realized I had peed in the bed.  Laying right next to my grandmother, I peed in the bed.  Her bed, the one with the rubber sheets on it that now cause me MAJOR heebie jeebies.  Sooooo, all my pee cascaded across in the mattress and pooled around my grandma who is a heavy set lady.  The rubber sheets kept it from soaking into the bed creating a half full, warm, yellow, kiddie pool around her body, right underneath the covers.

My response to this was to get my little butt out of the bed, wash up, change, an go sleep on the couch without waking my grandmother or making a the slightest peep that might wake her.  Yep. I slept great out on the couch that night too, it was so cozy and DRY.
1 coat.

The next morning did not go well you guys.  It was a Sunday morning and we had to go to church and afterwards all my grandma's church friends were coming over to talk about how terrible smoking is and how my grandmother is better off without a filthy smoker husband.  I remember, in a frantic panic trying to clean up pee and get dressed at the same time, my grandma threw her rubber sheets away instead of trying to wash them.  But that plan failed too because she spilled my pee all over the carpet trying to get them off the bed, then drizzled it behind her running down the hallway with them.  I was too busing eating cereal and watching cartoons to help her out though.

The entire day at church, and I do mean DAY at church, my grandma told the story over and over. By the end of the day the pool of pee had grown so large in her version of the story I was starting to get dizzy and feel faint upon hearing it.  It was a real miracle I didn't take one of those sporks they kept in the kitchenette and off myself from the unbridled, intoxicating, embarrassment.

When we came home I hid in the biggest cabinet I could find in the kitchen for several hours. I am not even going to get into the sight of all the church ladies on their hands and knees in my grandma's hallway scrubbing my piss out of the carpet.  I just can't go there, ya'll.  Which is why I was hiding in the freakin cabinet.

Yeah.

Today I am giving away the Color Club Pardon my French collection.
